Weekend Outlook June 7-9 | Help a Neighbor in Need: Activism and Engagement Abounds

This weekend's outlook takes on an activist and philanthropic bent, with opportunities to support Moms Demand Action, two local nonprofits, schools' gay/straight alliances, lunches for needy families, and a Shoreline community conversation.

We're also featuring three events for teens and tweens, PLUS two new baby and kid storytimes at the Northgate Barnes & Noble.

Community Engagement and Activism

Kids and grown-ups of all ages will gather to raise awareness of gun violence in America, with Moms Demand Action. This event is at the 185th St. overpass during Friday's commute.

This popular, once-a-month event is packed with fun, laughter, and snacks for kids ages 10-12 at the Richmond Highlands Rec Center.

Drop in anytime between 10 am and 1 pm with children ages 3-7 for "Fantastic Flowers," a fun nature exploration with an activity and a craft. ($10/family)

Indoor Activities for Body and Brain

In addition to the regular "Play & Learn" sessions, indoor playgrounds, and toddler gyms that can be found at the Shoreline Families calendar, these other local events will keep you cozy, active, and entertained indoors this weekend.

Children ages 4 and up can learn the basic skills to create jewelry and shrinky-dinks with their families at the Lake City Community Center. ($5/person, $15 max/family)
